Who is Tex?
With over thirty years of experience in the film industry in Canada and Australia, Tex brings a unique and valuable perspective to any production. His multicultural background, including Australian Aboriginal, and upbringing in the remote far north of Queensland outback Australia helped him develop an ability to deal with all sorts of personalities (human and animal!)
His career in production began in theatre, where he graduated from university as a classically trained Shakespearean actor. He founded a business that supplied talent to the International Expo 88 in Brisbane, and expanded into live events, festivals, film, and commercials. In Australia, he held various positions in production management, stage management, producing, event coordination, talent, and community arts consultancy - even serving as a university lecturer and youth facilitator for at-risk children.
Upon moving to Canada, Tex initially started in the talent, hospitality, and event industries before quickly moving into management positions. He oversaw some of Canada's largest major events at the time, including as the Vancouver Winter Olympics Hockey House Coordinator and Show Managing at Medieval Times.
As a Key Grip and manager, Tex has worked productions of many styles, genres, and budget levels from indie to commercial and to $10m+ shows. Tex particularly prides himself on his & his crew's ingenuity in helping DPs get their desired shots, as well as keeping safety at the forefront at all times.
